Yoga and Somatic movement for trauma and reconnecting with the body

Life is full of overwhelming experiences that leave a lasting impact on both the mind and the body. As a way to cope, we often disconnect from our bodies and try to process trauma through the mind. We try to think and talk our way out of things. But we’re missing a crucial piece of the puzzle — the body.

Body-based practices like yoga and somatic movement help us tap into places where language cannot reach. They open up a dialogue that reunites our entire being — feet to feelings, cell to self, brain to body. Working with the body in this way allows us to regain trust and ownership of our experiences, and navigate life with more ease and equanimity.

Trauma is more than an event in one’s life, it is also created by external systems around us which have impact on our bodies. The journey to supporting trauma is therefore not simply an individual journey but one we do in relationship with others and with acknowledgement of the systems around us that contribute to trauma.

How I Can Support You

Trauma Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY)

Evidence-based treatment designed to support complex trauma and PTSD survivors in overcoming trauma through the mind-body connection

 

Hatha-Inspired Yoga

Accessible and approachable yoga for well-being including hatha-inspired classes & 1-to-1 sessions, yoga for pregnancy , yoga for children and young people.

Trauma Informed Yoga

Yoga grounded in trauma awareness and sensitivity to support anyone that has experienced mental and/or physical trauma

 

Trainings, Courses & Workshops

Trauma-informed yoga trainings for yoga and movement teachers, and trauma awareness workshops for healthcare professionals, clinicians and educators

Somatic Movement

Movement, bodywork and exploratory practices individually tailored to help adults, young people and kids explore, befriend and connect with the body

Trauma sensitivity and accessibility consults for businesses, organisations and professional spaces, as well as mentoring for yoga and movement teachers
